OGS Class Registration Page
Online registration is preferred.  If you are unable to register online, please refer to the main “Store” page at left for more registration options.  OGS members receive a $5 discount on most classes.  You must login to the website to receive your discount—if you don't see the Member Price, click on “Members Only” on the menu at left, then login.  See the main “Store” page for details about class location and a map.

When checking out, you will have the option to print your order form and mail it with a check or to checkout using a credit card through PayPal.  Your registration is not complete until we receive payment.  Some classes fill up quickly, so we recommend using PayPal to guarantee a seat in your class of choice.  NOTE: You do not need to be a member of PayPal to checkout using that method, just choose the link below the PayPal login screen that reads — “Don't have a PayPal account?” — and then use the form to “Pay with a debit or credit card” to checkout as a guest.

Genealogists build a foundation with the vital statistics such as birth, marriage, and death records. But these can be the most difficult to locate. This presentation provides tips on finding those records in Oklahoma and, since many Oklahomans have roots out of state, how to chase down those records in other locations. Learn to be creative in finding substitutes when the regular certificates do not exist to prove those births, marriages, and deaths.

Nancy Calhoun has been chasing relatives for over 40 years. Nancy holds a bachelor degree in history, English, vocational home economics with a minor in photography and a masters in curriculum and instruction. Nancy was the Department Head of Genealogy and Local History at Muskogee Public Library in Muskogee, Oklahoma for 13 years. She has a teaching background and 20 years in newspaper work and publishing. She is a board member of the Oklahoma Genealogical Society.

Not all family research can be done online; sometimes you have to head into the field, or in this case, the cemetery. During this session, we'll investigate research tips on how to locate and decipher the symbols on your ancestors’ gravestones. You'll discover where to go, whom to talk with and what records to ask for in the cemetery. Plus, Joy will explain how she discovered an ancestor's missing grave. She'll also share a few family secrets and scandals she dug up while writing the book.
